From AVI
From MOV
From MPEG

Converting to RM from AVI with RealProducer

OK, first off, if you havent done it already, download RealProducer. For these tutorials I figure itll be easier to use a bulleted list.

  1. Open RealProducer.
  2. Choose "Record from File" Click Next
  3. Select the AVI you exported from Adobe Premiere or QTPro. Click Next
  4. OK, on the next screen, enter the information as youd like to be shown. Its pretty self-explanatory. Click Next
  5. This part is very important. Choose "Single-rate for Web Servers". Click Next
  6. Now, this part is also very dependant on what you want. Choose either "256K DSL/Cable Modem" or "384K DSL/Cable Modem". Click Next
  7. Choose "Stereo Music" Click Next
  8. Choose "Normal Motion Video". Click Next
  9. Pick the filename of your choice. Click Next. (Note: If you get an warning, just ignore it and click "No".)
  10. Click Finish
  11. Now, from here, to get the best quality out of RM, follow these next steps. If quality isn't a big issue for you, skip to step 19.
  12. Select "Options" in the top bar.
  13. Select "Preferences".
  14. Click the "Video Codec" tab.
  15. Make sure the video codec is on "RealVideo 8"
  16. Make sure "2-pass encoding" is checked.
  17. Make sure "Variable Bit Rate Encoding" is checked.
  18. Click "OK"
  19. Make sure all information is correct, then click "Start".
  20. If you checked 2-pass encoding, then itll show no output video at the beginning. This is normal. Just let it encode for, roughly, 10 minutes.
  21. Find the file your encoded and see if its satisfactory. If so, its ready for distribution!

  3. Select "Video" on the tool bar, then select "Compression"
  4. Now, select the HuffYUV codec. Click OK
