OK, first off, if you havent done it already, download VirtualDub, and the HuffYUV codec. For these tutorials I figure itll be easier to use a bulleted list.
Open VirtualDub.
Open the MPEG you want to convert.
Select "Video" on the tool bar, then select "Compression"
Now, select the HuffYUV codec for lossless (perfect) compression, or choose another codec of your choice for better compression, but quality-loss (Note: Be warned that some codecs, such as DivX, dont work very well in Premiere). Click OK
Select "Audio" on the tool bar. Choose "No Audio".
Select "File" on the tool bar. Choose "Save AVI". Give the file any name you like. (Note: Be sure to add the ".avi" extension on the end, as the program doesnt do this for you.)

Open VirtualDub.
Open the ASF you want to convert. (Note: Some ASFs may not open in VirtualDub, due to its not being able to find a codec. Fix: Download the MPG4 codec from HERE.)

This tutorial used information from The Wizard's Keep. Many thanks go to them for this method.
OK, first off, if you havent done it already, download VirtualDub, SnagIt, and the Indeo 5.xx codecs (Select "Indeo Video 3.2, 4.5, 5.11..."). For these tutorials I figure itll be easier to use a bulleted list.
Open RealPlayer.
Select "Options" in the tool bar.
Select "Preferences"
Select the "Performance" tab.
Uncheck the "Optimize video display" box.
Click OK
Open SnagIt
Select "Video Capture".
Select "Input" on the tool bar.
Check "Windows" and uncheck "Include cursor". Also uncheck "Record Audio".
Select "Output" on the tool bar.
Uncheck "Auto Configure" and set the Frames Per Second to "25".
Click "Video Setup".
Set the codec to Indeo 5.11 (STRONGLY recommended), or another fast-compressing codec (Note: DivX compresses fast, but requires a re-encoding through VirtualDub to work right in Premiere, so it isnt rescommended).
Open the clip you want to change to AVI in RealPlayer.
Click the "Capture" button in SnagIt, and put your mouse over the video window in RealPlayer.
Click "Start" on the window that just popped up.
Start playing the RealMedia file.
Go check the outputted file and see if it captured satisfactorily.
